Elliott Rayne and Joe Taylor – founders of EJ Events and previous MFG students – came in to Mirfield College this week to share their inspiring journey towards becoming the next big thing in the event planning industry.
After deciding to work together on a business concept, they co-founded EJ Events back in October 2018 at just 19 years old. The concept? A high-end events management company offering the ultimate luxury through bespoke events such as birthdays, proms, corporate events and everything in between. They promise to provide a premium exclusive experience bringing “End to End Elegance” to bars and establishments across Yorkshire.
The entrepreneurial duo came to speak to our Business students to share how they started their journey, but also to ask for their skills. The EJ team are young – some of the youngest in the industry. As they grow themselves, they’re keen to bring young, ambitious professionals along with them. “Some people may question our ability or our age but this is our unique selling point. It keeps things fresh. We can offer talent and quality at competitive prices, making us stand out from the crowd. ” And they’re true to their word, with MFG student Sam Teale who has worked closely with Mirfield College being their lead videographer as well as various other young professionals.
So where are they going? “We have big plans to expand” says Elliott. They’re busy planning for the upcoming Tour de Yorkshire event and will be running the management of the Cookridge Fan Zone. They’re working with clubs and bars in West Yorkshire to set up their own club night and may or may not have given our students a bit of insider knowledge as to where but we can’t tell! Alongside all of this, they’ll be mentoring Yorkshire’s young entrepreneurs as well as infiltrating markets overseas. We’re excited to see where the duo go and wish them all the luck for their future.
