This work-related qualification is of interest to those who want to study Business in the context of commercial enterprises. The course aims to develop students’ initiative, independence, and approach to business solutions, as well as problem solving and communication skills. Students will study topics such as business ownership, marketing, business finance and human resources. Each topic is linked to an actual business, giving a real insight into the ever changing business world. Through practical projects such as developing a tailored marketing campaign, students will be challenged to develop practical and industry standard skills, e.g. project management, resource and budget planning, presentation preparation and delivery and how to identify and meet customers’ needs.

This course provides students with entrepreneurial skills and knowledge which enables them to study business at a higher level, to establish their own business in the market or to develop practical skills which can be used to access a variety of employment or further education opportunities in the future.

Entry Requirements

Grade 4 in GCSE Mathematics and Grade 4 in GCSE English Language.

 

Assessment

Externally Assessed Units = 58%

Internally Assessed Units = 42%

Future Opportunities

The course provides an excellent foundation for pursuing further studies in the various areas of business, such as management, business law, business administration and retail. Students who have passed this qualification have gone on to study business studies at university and its related courses, such as events management, accountancy, law and operations management.
